Default Scraping floorboards or something else?

So I'm about three weeks into my first cruiser/Harley. Other bike is a 9 second Suzuki and prior to that a Triumph Speed Triple. All my previous bikes have been excellent handlers with plenty of ground clearance.

I'm enjoying slowing down and it's brought back the fun in riding again. I'm finding that I'm scraping without really pushing things, at least I don't believe I've reached the limits.

I originally thought I was simply scraping the floorboards, which I'm comfortable with since they fold up. Looking down there, I'm actually scraping the floorboard brackets, which are below the boards. These brackets appear to be hard parts and won't allow more leaning once they've contacted the road.

I suppose I could adjust my body positioning a little like I do when I'm riding sport bikes.

Depending on the model, the brackets may have some vertical adjustment, if you don't mind them being slightly higher.

Is there a question? Sounds like you know what is scraping and how to adjust your body to make tighter turns without getting on the brackets.

I'm no moto guru. I started on Harleys for the most part. I definitely feel the difference between boards and brackets. When the weight comes off the rear wheel my *** definitely puckers. I now adjust at the board scrape.

I feel ya buddy. I love my 48 and wouldn't go back to the sportbike world for anything but I've noticed that also with my foot pegs. It seems to do it more when I'm 2up so I figure that I can just set back and enjoy the ride. After all, grinding knees on the corner days are over for me. I just like getting out and relaxing now.

I suppose I wanted to confirm that when folks say they're scraping floorboards, it's something else.

Let the boards scrape, mine were worn to a knife edge and could slice bread and butter when I had a Road King. If you are hitting the board brackets, you should slow down. Use your Trump for corner carving.

Well my stock pipes would drag also when my wife rode with me. And no she isn't a very big lady at all. So with the same concern, I just slowed up a bit and reminded myself I wasn't on my GSXR anymore.

Thanks for the responses, are my boards supposed to scrape before the brackets? I'll need to check the bike but that's where my confusion is. My boards appear untouched.
