Denim, that so sucks. really glad that you came out pretty well.
Bike can be fixed easier then you. I hope somehow that azz is found.
You asked about the tank, I would say let the dealer get it. (980.00) new from HD. when the wife went down, I was worried about getting the tins b-4 summer was over. Could not have been happier when they came in 1 week!! hope that works that way for you also.
Well, you dodged a bullet....your injuries could have been much worse. You just experienced what most of us dread every time we fire up our bikes. Glad you made it through to ride again. Can't believe the Ahole left the scene.....
Frank, glad to hear you are still okay. I have had my share or wrecks as well. It really sucks that the guy took off without getting his plate. But the most important thing is that you are okay.
All you guys that are like meand think "It will never happen to me"--- I hate to tell you that you are wrong! I hated hearing it before and I laughed at the saying.."There are 2 kinds of bikers..those that have gone down and those that will". It is really true. I rode thinking I was so F***ing smart and alert and ready for anything to happen. I practice evasive maneuvers for fun regularly. I REALLY believed that I could handle any situation. I always watched ahead of me for some idiot to pull out and I would think "If that jerk pulls out, I am ready for him". I had absolute confidence. As it turns out, it doesn't happen when you think you are ready but when you least expect it. Sometimes you just can't avoid it.
I am really shook up this morning and don't feel (right now) like I even want to ride again. I'm sure it will pass, but it is hard to see everything you believed change so suddenly. I see now that I was cocky and over confident. I guess God felt I needed a lesson. Perhaps that lesson will save my life some day. I really don't want to be a nervous rider. I'm afraid it won't be as much fun.

That's some pretty natural feelings and thoughts. Give yourself enough time for the bike to be fixed and I bet you'll be chomping at the riding bit again. Glad you're okay!!!
