Your feelings are understandable and natural. I have gone through the same feelings. You will get back to the way you were but you need to get back up on that horse. Good luck.

I'll say! The accident happened around 4:30 PM. I waited for hours and they kept calling me telling me that they could not find a tow for me. I told them that in my opinion, any tow company who wishes to participate (or at least a few of them in each area)in their program should be REQUIRED to service their clients on holidays. I was on the side of the road, all bandaged up and very shook up just waiting for a phone call. They finally called and said that they had one company who agreed to do the tow for $150 for the hitch and $5 per mile. But since it was a holiday, they would charge 1-1/2 timesthe total amount! I almost agreed to it out of desperation but then a truck drove by and offered me a tow for $125 and no per mile charge. The guy was great and drove me 3/4 of the way home after the tow.Needless to say, I gave him a nice tip. I didn't get home until around 10:00 PM!! The dealer was only about 30 miles from where I went down. HD roadside assistance told me that they would reimburse me $100 of the amount I paid.
Been away from the PC for a few days. Awfully sorry to hear about your accident. Most important thing is that you are ok and will ride again. Really pi$$ed about the scumbag SUV driver. What is it with people today and their inability to face up to their own actions? My Momma just didn't raise me that way.Your words of perceived invincibility and preparedness strike home and maybe God will use your experience to benefit some of us as well as you. However, as riders, we all need to accept the fact that sometimes $hit just happens. Doesn't mean you weren't prepared, doesn't mean you weren't proficient at riding!! Sometimes it's just your day. Hang in there Bro and all will be ok. Sorry to hear the details of the damage to your bike, but it can be fixed. You are more important!!

I hate to go on and on about this guys but so much happened over a few hours and you all have such good ears....
I am amazed at how good people were to me yesterday. Especially a man named CJ and his wife. After the accident when everyone left, I was stranded on the side of the road looking pretty pitiful. CJ and his wife drove up in a truck and asked if I was OK. I told him the whole long story and explained that, at that point, I was waiting for 1-1/2 hours for a call about a tow. He told me that he and his wife ride and he knew when he saw me something was wrong. He lived in town and offered to go get his trailer and bring my bike to his house and put a spare wheel he had on the bike so I could ride home and I could bring it back to him whenever I could! This was a complete stranger that was out with his wife for a nice holiday! He stayed with me talking for almost an hour to see if Roadside assistance would have any luck. When it became obvious that HD was not going to be of any help, he gave me his number and left to get the trailer. Shortly thereafter the independent tow company came by and I called CJ to let him know that it was going to be OK now. He said that he would come back by to make sure that the bike was loaded OK. I told him that I took enough of his time and it wasn't necessary to come by again and I thanked him from the bottom of my heart.
I was trying to help the tow guy load the bike and I was having some trouble because both of my hands were very sore and one was bleeding pretty badly. The next thing I knew, CJ pulls up with his wife and helped to load the bike. He took a pair of white athletic socks out of his truck and tied them to my forks to protect the forks from the tow straps and he brought me a cold beer!!!
This guy was an angel from God! We traded numbers and we are going to go for a ride when I am back up. I told him that lunch or dinner or both would be on me. THAT is the kind of friend to have...someone that will go out of their way to help you BEFORE they know you. How much more would he do once he does know you?!
There was a lot of good that happened around that bad situation! I thought you all might want to hear that....
