So glad you are OK bike can be fixed. I went down a month ago
and was lucky too. Some very colorful bruises and new ones
everyday for two weeks but walked away. Just got the bike back
last Thurs. really wanted it back but I can relate to not wanting to
be the nervous rider. So many emotions during an accident and
after. Still working on getting cofidence back and hope it just gets
better in time. I hope they catch the b*st*rd that hit you. How
does someone live with themselves after something like that?
My husband has been so patient with me this weekend, maybe
with the forum people will think about the slow rider they come
up on has just gone thru something very tramatic and getting
back on that horse is going to take time and they will be patient
and give us room to ride.
Sorry to hear about your accident but glad to know you will be ok. These hit and run are getting crazy. Four weeks ago my riding bro was coming home from work and a guy hits him in the rear in a turn. When I went to pick him up he was all road rashed on the side of the road and he said the guy hit him, went around him, hit his brake lights and took off! Insurance is fixing his bike and he is healing and will ride again. I hope that you will also. People just dont seem to give a dam about motorcycles and others on the road. One thing I remember from my hog wreck with a deer(me and hog lived on, deer died) was ths itch to ride came back quicker then my itch of healing left. Wish you all the best!
Ouch! How fast was he going when the jerk hit him?
Glad u'r ok,,,so we're all looking for a black SUV wit a little dammage on the passanger rear quarter,,,,lets hope the LEO's get him befor us....
No damage Yuck--He bumped by left leg--the only damage I had to my bike was on the right side. But my front dunlop tire as a 2" split on the left sidewall and another 1" split in another place on the left. The front rim does not appear to be bent and I never hit anything with the tire. I'm pretty sure that his rear wheel rolled over my tire. If it did that and did not hit the rim, would that blow the tire? Nobody could figure out at the scene why the tire was blown so severely. Not the cops or other riders.....anybody have any guesses?
WOW!!!!! That's f**ked up[:@][:@] Hope that f**ker gets his real soon.Glad your OK Frank,,,,count your blessings bud,it could have been worse.
Call HD roadside assistance & tell them WE ALL think they suck a$$[:@]
I'll say! The accident happened around 4:30 PM. I waited for hours and they kept calling me telling me that they could not find a tow for me. I told them that in my opinion, any tow company who wishes to participate (or at least a few of them in each area) in their program should be REQUIRED to service their clients on holidays. I was on the side of the road, all bandaged up and very shook up just waiting for a phone call. They finally called and said that they had one company who agreed to do the tow for $150 for the hitch and $5 per mile. But since it was a holiday, they would charge 1-1/2 times the total amount! I almost agreed to it out of desperation but then a truck drove by and offered me a tow for $125 and no per mile charge. The guy was great and drove me 3/4 of the way home after the tow. Needless to say, I gave him a nice tip. I didn't get home until around 10:00 PM!! The dealer was only about 30 miles from where I went down. HD roadside assistance told me that they would reimburse me $100 of the amount I paid.
Thanks for the kind words Jim...
Frank
Bad enough being in an accident, but to have to sit there all them hours waiting for help, while in pain really sucks in my book. The wounds will heal & the bike will be fixed, but the memory is forever.
I myself have #s for independant tow guys for my bike. You might want to do the same, seeing how HD let you down, when you needed them most
Man, I'm sorry to hear that. i can't believe the guy took off... WTF? You have insurance, right?
If there's anything I can do, let me know...
Thanks Orange! I am fully insured. Ihave a $500 deductable butI'm sure it willbe thousands.
Well cool, glad to hear it. If ya need any paintwork, let me know...
Well, I think I need a new black denim tank. Is it better to let the dealer get it? I wonder howlong it will take. Any advice would be appreciated!
Depends on how much the sheetmetal set is. Unless it's a numbered set, I'd probably have someone paint it for you. Obviously HD doesn't paint tanks, they have someone do it so no matter how you look at it, someone's painting that set.
See what your insurance is paying for and how much they're allowing.... you'll just have to pay the difference if you want something different than what was on your bike.
If you do decide to buy a set from the dealer, let me know how much and I'll see if I can get it cheaper for you.

oh yeah.... I've had numerous bikes towed into my shop that were rearended and the tires were blown. It seems that the bumper rolls up on top of the tire and the weight/pressure is enough to blow it out.
Tires are meant to support hundreds of pounds, not tons....

Mark, sorry for my stupidity, what do you mean by the "bumper rolls up"?
DS sucks about your accident, but glad you came out now worse for the wear. The bike is always fixable or replacable, your not. Happy your still here with us. As for the driver of the SUV, they will get thier's sooner or later you can bet on that.
