Well, you kind of have it backward. We were entering the highway from a town street. We were basically stopped. He went straight and I turned right to go up the ramp on to the highway. He changed his mind and made a huge swing to the right which would basically force me off the road. I couldn't get away from him.I probably was in his blind spot, but he is responsible for his blind spot too. No matter what, however, since we had and impact and he ran over my front wheel, he should never have left the scene. Keep in mind this was all at a very slow speed. I was still in 1st gear.
I can say that I think I may have been to heavy on my front brake which literally pulled me down, but I think I was going down no matter what.
Is that a little more clear now?
Thanks for the advice and discussion. I hope others learn from it too. I know I have!
Man, I'm sorry to hear that. i can't believe the guy took off... WTF? You have insurance, right?
If there's anything I can do, let me know...
Thanks Orange! I am fully insured. Ihave a $500 deductable butI'm sure it willbe thousands.
Well cool, glad to hear it. If ya need any paintwork, let me know...
Well, I think I need a new black denim tank. Is it better to let the dealer get it? I wonder howlong it will take. Any advice would be appreciated!
Depends on how much the sheetmetal set is. Unless it's a numbered set, I'd probably have someone paint it for you. Obviously HD doesn't paint tanks, they have someone do it so no matter how you look at it, someone's painting that set.
See what your insurance is paying for and how much they're allowing.... you'll just have to pay the difference if you want something different than what was on your bike.
If you do decide to buy a set from the dealer, let me know how much and I'll see if I can get it cheaper for you.

Mark, I spoke with the adjuster today. I am covered 100% on all stock parts. The tank would fall under that. The bad part is that I am only covered for $1000 overage on upgrades. In other words, if my $1200 wheel is bent and the stock wheel is $400, then I have already used $800 of the 1K they allow. My V&H pipes are definitely damaged so I am already using a portion of that 1k. If my wheel is not bent, I should make it within that 1k. I hope so, and then I will change the policy so I am not cutting it so close. (This is all after the $500 deductible, of course) I should walk away from this accident with a $500 complete cost--Oh yeah, I also walked away from it with my life too!!!
Denim, Glad you brought this up. Found out about the $1000 limit on aftermarket parts when the OL went down, the ins. man was telling me about it ad also said that leathers, helmet, gloves, boots or anyting else damaged would fall under this. So the OL had: streetslammer bars, forward controls, helmet, and gloves replaced under that. came close to the limit with just that stuff.
I that maybe everybody knew about that except me. we will also be raising the limit. Ins. man said it doesn't cost that much.
hope eveyone reading this will look at their policy. It would suck to have $5000 in crome that wastn't covered and find out afterward.

Little stiff today huh?
Hell yeah! It happened on Monday and I didn't stiffen up until late last night. Should ease off by tomorrow (hopefully)
Wow! First I knew of it, Frank!
So glad that you are ok.
You might want to check your policy. Mine covers 3K of additional equipment. The adjuster may have said 1K, but having been one, I can tell you that sometimes they know not what they speak of!
