I am wondering what my options are about a Harley Frame that I won in a storage unit. I searched the VIN number on it and it says nothing about being in a stolen database so I figued I would sell it but after I recently sold it, another search says it is a Lotus and nothing to do with Harley Davidson and I sold the frame to someone that is saying the VIN number on it is not even a Harley VIN number and that it might have been altered. Im wondering if anyone on there knows for sure. Here is the VIN # SCC72FLTL02062007

I had another frame in the storage unit that looked just like it that had an indication sticker on it that indicated it was a 2000 HD Tourning so if anyone knows for sure, that would help
If you say it is a 2000 touring frame the vin would start with 1HD as was stated. Looking at your pic. it does appear that the F and T may have been altered.
Im not saying it is a 2000 Touring frame. I said the other frame I had that looked just like it was a 2000 Touring frame. This one doesn't have the indicators. If anyone knows, it would help.
Definitely not a HD VIN number. The searches I did also turned up Lotus. I can't find a decoder that will give me the year or model on that VIN. You may try contacting Lotus in the UK to get them to help. But its for sure not HD
That is either an aftermarket frame or someone has welded an aftermarket neck on a late model frame(or stamped their own numbers). That is not a Harley VIN# or it would start with 1HD.
Edit: I should have refreshed page before answering, I see several others beat me to it.

anyone more familiar on how to decode this one? id appreciate it
Not sure what else you are looking for. As folks have pointed out the first 3 digits clearly show it's not HD. Your own search as you mentioned shows it to be made by Lotus. The two searches I linked showed Lotus as well. I feel confident in saying that's the manufacture. Best bet is to contact them for a year and model.
That is not a Harley VIN. It may be aftermarket in which case that may be a MSO number. The "SCC" may be some sort of "Salvage" designation or a custom company name but the overstamp is definitely a red flag.
The frame is obviously 1970 or newer so how did you sell it without the necessary paperwork? Any buyer is going to have a hard road to travel to get that titled because the first cop or MV person that sees that number it is gonna confiscate it and it'll end up as rebar or a manhole cover!
