Love the look of old school Nostalgic! The Road King and Softail Deluxe really appeal to me! The look of white walls and no fairing is my next ride for sure!
I have been riding a StreetGlide for the past nine years and I really want a change and the two bikes really have my interest!
I know I will get a lot of different opinions on this but that's what I was hoping for so let it rip!
I should add that I don't take long trips anymore more just bar hop, short rides is my style of riding and I don't ride two up anymore!

Both would be great bikes for suiting your riding style, but the Deluxe (IMHO) would edge out the RK. The low CG and easy handling of a Softail make hopping around town too easy. That said, my bias is screaming "Get the Road King!!!"

 

You should also consider a Heritage. Ride all three. The worst thing to do is buy a bike based on looks.

 

What your saying is you are leaning to the softail because of your riding habits. I went the other way came off a lower harder riding bike and went to the new Road King and my oh my do I like that RK. You really need to go test ride both worlds of difference between them and the RK may surprise you, know it did me.

 

The Deluxe is long in the tooth where as the Road King is still fresh. 2 new versions since 2014.

 

I had a 10 Deluxe, loved the look, could not get comfy. Now I have a RK. Touring bikes just fit me better. I need to get more nostalgia into my RK.

Both are good looking bikes and if it were me I would buy the roadking it already has a windshield and saddlebags I don't care for the touring bikes as I don't need a stereo when I ride I like just me and the bike

 

Roadking - the name says it all - RoadKING....

 

The Road King is a touring bike. . .
