To be honest I have been around bikes all my life and never heard of using easy off on it for anything. I have used easyoff to take spray paint off plastic before. I had a Yamaha Rhino that the previous owner had used rattle cans to give a camo paint job to the entire plastic body. $ cans off easy off later and it was back to OEM blue. The way that stuff cut that paint tells me it would not be a good choice on chrome or painted surfaces
Hell maybe I'm doing something wrong cause I dulled my V&H pipes with 0000 steel wool and wd40 in a spot trying to get some crap off. Maybe I am just not supposed to have nice chrome pipes.
I use Nevr Dull and Elbow grease, to remove marks from boots or rain pants. Sorry to hear about your pipes.
I don't use any caustic chemicals since I etched the aluminum on my Vulcan 750 with S100.
And for the posters making fun of wind pants, c'mon man. The guy feels bad about his pipes, why kick a man when he's down?
OP,,, Easy Off can be used in kitchen ovens that have chrome grates/ racks.
Typically these rack's chrome finish do not "melt" with that products use.
So, is there more to the story?
Are these pits scratches from a removal tool or zippers of the wind pants?
Maybe the pits have always been there? Rock chips?
I personally doubt Easy Off would penetrate or melt chrome.
You could get some other chrome samples and test to prove if possible damage occurs.
Not all hard chrome finishes are equal, I've seen other complaints about Bassani chrome finish issues. I have a set of painted Bassani's on my Dyna. love them, but getting ready to wrap them my jeans make contact in just the right spot to get scorched just above the hem.
Easy off contains lye which is corrosive, you don't want to get it on aluminum. The trigger on a sprayer filled with AC coil cleaner(which contains lye) got bumped in the back of my truck onetime. My nicely polished diamond plate aluminum truck box was never the same.

Note: Easy Off will damage paint!
None the less, good luck.
I rode the bike up to the store to get a can of snuff and fill it up. The melting of the "wind pants" happened while I was filling the bike with gas. The pro streets hang out from the bike a bit so my pant leg got up against it while I was filling the tank. When I got home I noticed it and that's when I used the easy off. These spots are in the same place and that is why I was asking if anyone else had ever had chrome damaged by using easy off.
As mentioned earlier I used a bit of never dull lastnight and it wouldn't touch it. I haven't tried the steel wool yet but I'm cautious about it since dulling a spot on my v&h pipes with it. However I think I just used a bit too much elbow grease with it last time.
