This is the opinion of someone in the left liberal media, not me. I am not posting this to rehash the helmet debate, we already did that yesterday and this morning when we talked about how ABC News Used Rolling Thunder to Promote Helmet Agenda.
Instead I want to show you guys how people are using Rolling Thunder to push liberal agenda. To me this is sad. It's bastardizing the event and taking away from the real purpose of it.
The ultimate irony is that because of what our military does and the losses that they experience on a personal level that people like Brett have the freedom to say what they want. Can't they for just once respect that sacrifice and excercise their right to shut up?
Actually, it's the fascist radical right wing element as well as liberals who aren't really liberal who want helmet laws. ABC is owned by the radical Disney company and most of the radical southeastern states have helmet laws.
Yeah, why always blame everything that you disagree with on the liberals? More times than not it is the so-called conservatives and right wing, born again, radicals that have been chipping away at our Constitution. Think Patriot Act, warrant-less electronic surveillance, Executive Order denial of Habeas Corpus, etc., etc., etc. Yes I know, you are going to tell me how much safer I am now. Personally, I prefer my freedom and independence. As Patrick Henry famously said: Give me liberty or give me death. Amen.
I wear a helmet whenever I ride my scoot on public roads and really see no logic in questioning whether or not doing so makes me safer, of course it does. A head protected is safer than a head exposed, otherwise racers would still be racing in goggles and leather skull caps. Arguing that a helmet does not make one safer seems to be pretty ridiculous to me. Would they say the same about leather, pants, and boots?
That said, wearing a helmet should be a choice. If you don't want to wear one, you should be allowed to ride without one. Dictating how much protection a person has to wear in order to operate a motorcycle safely is government overstepping its bounds, IMO. Do they dictate that we have to wear full leathers every time we leave the house as well? What's the difference, when you get right down to the core of it? Wearing a helmet should be a choice, but arguing that riding with a helmet is not necessarily safer than riding without one is NOT the way to win doubters over, if you ask me.
Yeah, why always blame everything that you disagree with on the liberals?
Because they are more prone to thinking they know what is best for you. And, I just don't agree with any of their ideas as it relates to running things. Actually, I just don't care for their attitudes in general. But, that's just me.
Since riding the streets is NOT racing, the helmet is obviously safer argument doesn't hold up. Unless you're talking about wrecking, not riding. Even then no one doing statistics takes into account whether the head hit anything, or whether something else would've killed them anyway. Three friends have died in car wrecks, none on bikes.

So why do they ticket you for not wearing a seat belt?Wouldn't you agreethat is a personal safety issue choice too?I wear a helmet, and in the cage a seat belt as a disclaimer, btw. One by law, one by choice.Let the insurance cos. handle it through higher risk pricing; the government isn't my nanny, and your personal choice is your own buisness, not mine, unless thrown in my face that I HAVE to live by another's opinions....
