Rain and a new bike questions
Hey all,
Of all of the Harleys I have owned, I never rode them in the rain. I was never caught in the rain either.
With that said, I am going 5 hours away to pick up a new bike (Softail Standard) that hasn't been in the rain. That worries me from a cosmetic standpoint. It is going to rain and I have no way to get it back home without riding it.
After riding in the rain, will there be a problem getting all of the grime off to where you won't be able to tell it was ever
in the rain? S100 comes to mind, but I am OCD on bike cleanliness and want to be able to have it looking brand new again I despise water spots and dirt on the crankcase, lol. .
Thoughts?

Just clean it if it gets dirty. If you are OCD, then this should make you happy.
More to the point - just ride the bike. Rain, shine, whatever....it's waterproof and so are you.

Who in their right mind would even consider riding in the rain?! And don't get me started on salt.... I'd be surprised if the bike doesn't turn to rust by the time you get home.
Is it still "riding in the rain" if you pull over and get rained on?
To answer your question, the only way you'll get it looking truly brand new is if you let your OCD consume you instead of just riding and cleaning it off once in awhile. The bike will be fine either way. Today is Wednesday, so that makes three years since mine has been washed. It's not an investment.

Don't do it, I repeat don't ruin that bike and ride in the rain you will ruin it forever and ever and ever. There is no way to restore a bike that has been wet.

Either clean it when u get home or schedule to pick up when no rain is in the forecast maybe even trailer.......pretty simple.
