Anyone a member? I've seen some patches around here. I'm thinking about joining. Looks a pretty good organization in support of vets and active duty military.
Is this organization an offshoot of the VFW. They only allow members that are combat veterns also.
I see there is no chapter listedin Oregon, so this must be a relatively new organization.
I know that several of the American Legion Halls and VFW halls are forming motorcycle clubs.
I assume the Patriot Guards are the largest vetern support group at well over 100K.
The Patriot Guards will accept any and all supporters on their missions to honor our fallen or veterns who have passed on. Most are veterns, but not combat veterns.
I fail to understand why a group would exclude a vetern that had served over 20-30 years in the military and yet include someone who did one year in Iraq or another theater of action. Its a bit of a mystery to me personally!
That said I thank you for you service and thank you for supporting veterns!
Most of the questions you have asked are answered if you visit the link I provided.
We are not an 'offshoot' of any other organization, and like many groups there are basic requirements that must be met for membership. Fora basic example, you would not be allowed to become a full member in a Vietnam VeteranOrganization unlessit has been verified that you are a Vietnam Veteran.
We have members in all 50 states, and many at various over seas locations.
The PGR is a fairly new organization, and some of our members were involved withthem in Kansas when they first formed in 2005.
Here is a little history of the PGR;
"The growth has been phenomenal. Within a week their membership included many riders from associations like the VFW, American Legion, Rolling Thunder, ABATE, Combat Vets Motorcycle Association, Intruder Alert, Leathernecks Motorcycle Club, and almost five hundred individual riders. To the credit of Hugh and âWaldoâ, the PGR website had received almost 566,000 hits in the first two weeks! Patriots from all over America and several foreign countries responded. Emails were pouring in from people wanting to support and join the newly formed PGR."
Does anyone know where the Kansas chapter is located? We area KSARNG aviation unit currently deployed to Balad Iraq. Our company alone has bought over $150,000 worth of bikes while over here. We will be looking to ride when we return home.
Thanks OldFenderGuy. I have the DD214 to show my combat time. I will get in touch with the State Chapter. National site looks good. Think I will join up. Later
