At the lower end of the $$$ spectrum, I've had good luck with HJC FF and 3/4 Helmets. I've had an Arai and also presently have a Shoei RF1200, both of which are a bit more comfortable than the HJC's, as well as much more expensive, but they all "fit' my noggin quite well.
I have a huge oval head myself and have fought with helmets my whole life. In the past I have been forced to take a ball peen hammer to the front of the styrofoam to get a fit, (I know, stupid but better than no helmet at all). I just now got the best fitting helmet ever. I bought an HJC modular and when I sized my head it said a 2x would fit but I ordered a 3x and am very pleased now. It just came in this week and today was my first time riding with it. A 30 minute ride to work and so far so good.
My FF is an Aria Signet-Q, which is more of a roval. Most 1/2 helmets are okay, but my 3/4 Daytona's are more for a round head, forcing me to move up from L to XL.
Check out the info from LidPicker.com. MotorcycleGear.com offers this service for their helmets and it's surprising how different helmets of the same brand widely diverge...
