To answer your questions about sunglasses, like everyone suggested, Wiley X Echos are good to go. They're tailor made for riders. I've had several different sunglasses. Can't ride with a full helmet due to the drone inside so with my brain bucket, i've tested my Ray Bans Wayfarers, Oakley Frogskins. They cause a lot of windage inside possibly due to my fairings causing wind to go up and in. Kills my eye something vicious.
I had some Arnette wrap arounds and those seem to work better but still felt the wind inside.
The Wiley X Echos and the foam padding makes it so no wind goes in. Plus I have the yellow lenses for night time riding. That's all you need.
ESS Rollbars.....interchangeable lenses, seals up tight, tough. I took a full speed fire road rock the size of my thumb right in the lens. I would have lost an eye. No damage.
Wiley X.....I have a pair, they are decent.
Gargoyles Classic.....the glasses I use most. Black and clear. Comfortable and doesn't fly off in the wind. Saved my eyes more times than I can remember. Their replacement policy is unbeatable and no hassle.
I have a big head so they are also the few that fit. I also tend to take a beating so I go through these regularly.
Oakleys are hyped junk. I've had several pair fall apart and break. Their warranty is crap. They should be on the racks at convenience stores.
They should met ANSI Z80.3 specs. A projectile in the eye could ruin your day,and more.
Also in some places,if they don't meet spec, you can get an equipment fine.
Absolutely. I've always worked in industrial environments, off roading, firing ranges, security, and riding. I always wear impact rated glasses. Countless times I've just had to replace gouged glasses with new ones. I keep several extra pairs on the side.
I wear Costa Del Mar Fathoms blue mirror. Great visibility, they sit close to your melon and have very small vent holes in the frame (they rarely fog up) Best sunglasses I have ever owned. If they were to break, I would send them back for repair, buy a second set for a backup!
