Start her up and give it throttle busts every few seconds until I see at least one neighbor look out their window. Then I ride away making extra effort to hit high revs in front of that neighbor's house. It's all in good fun
Engine of car or bike should run until oil reaches top end. It takes about 2-3 seconds if oil filter has good valve and 10 sec max if valve is bad. 3 sec after oil light is off is enough.
Not competely true. The warning light of the oil pressure is just telling you that the minimum oil pressure is reached. And this is not the 'operational oil pressure'. The oil needs to warm-up to reach all bearing and gliders, rockers and all lub points with sufficient pressure. And that sufficient pressure is not yet obtained with the oil pressure warning light just off. It takes for aircooled engines al least 30 seconds for the oil reached sufficient pressure in all the lubrication points. Liquid cooled engines requires from 1 minute (car engine) to 10-15 minutes (ships large diesel engines, even with pre-heated lub oil). And still, don't load the engine fully till the full operational temperature of the engine is obtained. ******* on the rear wheel or race starts are killiing your engine the first 2-4 minutes after firing her up.

This is true. The oil pressure sending unit is located low on the engine. You may have "enough" oil pressure there to turn off the oil light, but it doesn't mean you have oil flowing through the pushrods and into your rocker boxes. While the rockers don't need a great deal of lubrication, they still need oil flowing into the rocker boxes to lubricate the moving parts.
I don't tend to wait, once that engines started I'm off.
Me, too. I generally have my gear on when I get to the bike. Get on the bike, turn it on, wait for gauges to come to life, and off I go. Same procedure for all my bikes since carb days.
I roll mine back out of the barn, hit start, close the door, and ride off.
If it's bad and lack of oiling ruins the engine... I wanted to go bigger anyways!!

I hold the throttle wide open while cranking it. That way when it catches and fires, it builds oil pressure quicker. I read on the internet that's the best way to do it. I think it was in the tech forums.
