Check engine light.
I didn't have any thing to right the number down and I can't remember what it was . It has stayed off so I guess if it comes on again I will just take it to shop before I mess with it .

fault codes appear when there is a problem with emission controls, something is wrong, making the exhaust pipe dirty. Of course that can mean, the motor isn't running right, as in a misfire, or a stuck open injector. Those can be hard on the bike, and cause some damage, if you are washing a cylinder down with gas, and diluting the oil. But less obvious codes, can be an O2 sensor, or a map sensor, where the ECM, will install a false value, allow the bike to run "OK" and throw the light, to get it inspected. If your problem seems severe, (misfire, ect) don't ride it, not worth it. If you're in the middle of death valley, and buzzards are circling, RIDE it!!! If the bike seems ok, ride it to the shop, But never, I repeat Never, clear the codes!! How is the tech supposed to know what went wrong, in the first place? It didn't fix anything doing that, and that code may not repeat itself for a while, depending on the problem. Any tech will tell you, unless you have addressed the code, and "think" its fixed, leave it! Then when it has been addressed, then clear it, and see if it comes back. One thing, I know, Most bikes/codes, never fix themselves!! And they reoccur in the most inconvenient times, because someone thought putting the light out is a good idea!
