Worse than electing not to "optimize" on headgear is unwittingly compromising the gear you've chosen by incorporating QD weak links into the securing straps for the sake of minor convenience. Your $800.00 state of the art FF bucket isn't as good a protection as a $60.00 plastic beanie if it comes off your head during an accident.
Fans of QD buckles have "guarantees", and robust construction etc. to point to but; 1) there is a reason helmet makers don't adopt them, 2) anything which can go wrong, will go wrong, 3) no industrial safety codes I'm aware of, allow weak links in safety retention systems. 4) I think they're a bad idea
