Default Solid vs Floating Rotor

I have to replace the front rotor on my new to me Heritage.

I looked on the Harley site and found that there is only $10.00 difference in price.

What are the advantages or disadvantages in each?

Thanks

The primary advantage is that a full floater will line itself up to the pad surface when the brakes are applied to provided the greatest pad-to-rotor contact area. So, better braking efficiency and stopping power.

Aren't they also less prone to warping from excessive heat?.

In theory since you have a floating caliper like a car, the caliper will center itself.

His 2008 heritage doesn't have a Front floating caliper...they're fixed 4-piston

Edit: I added the "2008" and "Front" for further clarification...Rear is sliding (aka "floating") on an 08

+1 Just look at them before answering. The caliper would slide on a rod like the older HD did if it was a floating caliper.

Floating rotors dissipate heat much better than solid. Also make sure you you get compatible pads.
