Crossing double yellow in any state would be a violation. It's as universal as a stop sign.

Although I must applaud him for not "laying it down" to avoid the accident, and instead, utilizing the bucking bronco maneuver.
Honestly, because a large percentage of Harley riders don't really know how to ride a motorcycle properly. Unlike most other types of bike, it's extremely easy to learn just enough to get by on a Harley, as the low center of gravity and forgiving torque makes them ridiculously easy to ride. I've run into tons of guys who say they never even touch their front brake.

That's just an accident waiting to happen.

Once you've gotten used to riding a light, powerful bike with excellent brakes, ABS, cornering ABS, and anti-stoppie systems, you can romp on the front brake and stop very quickly even a high speeds and not have to worry too much about locking it up or going over the handlebars. With practice you can stop really quickly.

Using just the back brake is an extremely dangerous habit which is almost exclusive to Harley riders.

As for the video, dude is going way too fast for traffic conditions. If that's typical for California, then that just makes it even worse. He's damn fortunate he didn't slide right off the car and across the barrier and face-first into oncoming traffic.

You can see the rider pull front brake just prior to impact.

Left turns across a double yellow into private property is legal in Ca.

Doubt the rider learned anything. Sure looked like he was going way to fast & not braking enough. Can't trust any cars on the road to be watching, and really any other bikes for that matter.

If that was my crash vid, I'd be too embarrassed to post it. I hope that guy does a post mortem on his ride and rethinks some things. Maybe go back to MSF class!
