Hi, i'm dreaming of getting a HD as it has always been my passion to own one HD. I'm 5'6" and 60kg. I have been eyeing 883 but Dyna low rider caught my eyes as well. I plan to go for long ride and i definitely need a comfortable ride. I have been told that sportster 883 isn't fit for a long ride and now i'm in dilemma. i definitely need advice to make up my mind in choosing the right ride for me. Kindly help me please.
Between an 883 superlow and a Low Rider? Low Rider, without question. But... do your due diligence, I don't consider the Low Rider a newbie ride. If you have riding experience, you should transition fairly well. If you're a babe, you may not do so well; it won't suffer a fool.
A lot depends on how you feel riding the motorcycle and if any customization is done. When I had an 883, I had to change the seat to a reduced reach seat and installed vibranators in the handlebars to reduce vibration in the mirrors and my hands. Some put forward controls on (I tried them, but couldn't reach them without reclining in my seat) and other comfort features. No matter what, it will vibrate your hands, mirrors, and footpegs and make your hands and feet go numb. I don't know about the Dyna, but it seems like an extremely popular model and folks ride them everywhere.
I'm 5' 6" and I have a Dyna Switchback, and have no complaints. an 883 Sporty is fine for an around-town bike, but isn't meant for long-term comfort, and the 5-speed transmission means it'll be pretty buzzy. I took a Sportster 1200T on a long ride and it was fine, except for the 5-speed. if you're buying new I'd look at a Street Bob. it's got a low seat height.
I'm not a big guy, and I went from a Sportster to a Softail in one year -- and the Softail is easier to ride and better balanced. Same is true of the Dyna Low Rider. A Low Rider is basically a souped up Sportster that is better balanced. No question OP, go for the Low Rider. You will be very glad that you did.
If you'll do much highway riding, I'd go with the Dyna. My wife has an 883 SuperLow, and it's running pretty hard at 65. If you want the Sportster size, I'd look at a 1200T for longer rides.
