Default Going back to HD. But which way to go?

So after almost 5 years spent on a Ducati I am thinking about buying another Harley. I miss riding slow with the open helmet and the smell of the forrest.

The thing is I can go for the classic: Shovel FLH - love the looks, the sound it had one good owner for over 20 years. I love to wrench and repair stuff. I love old bikes and the smell....

Or, for the same money I can get a 2004 Road king - I love the looks and how massive it is. Next to it there was a 2011 Wide glide (like new!) that I also love...
Now I am lost and confused. I have a large family and not much time to ride. And those would be short rides.

What scares me in the Shovel is that it needs constant repairs but i like to do it (no experience with shovels tho). And if I don't buy it, I could regret it after cause here in Europe they are very expensive and often just imported so you don't know who had it and what he did to it..WG or RK I can buy anytime..
On the other hand the other two look like new - just hop on and ride (I will test all of them soon) but they don't need my love in the garage.

Oh I forgot to mention that i am 6'7 and look ridiculous on all of them
Give me a push guys.
PS.My wife is an Angel.

I think you will enjoy the wide glide if you take shorter trips. I love the way mine rides. Plus you being tall you should have forward controls.

You could stretch out on the Wide Glide, more comfort for you.

Looking at your other two posts from 2012, it seems you're still asking the same questions 5 years later, looking at the exact same bikes. Hard to believe you haven't figured it out by now on what you want. We can't choose for you man, you gotta get a bike that fits and feels comfortable to you.

I will say, if your riding time is that limited, the last thing I'd want to be doing to wrenching on the thing. I'd rather ride every chance I got.

Yeah, thanks for reading my older posts (all 2 of them....). The question however is not the same.
I was asking then Dynas vs Softails.
Today I am asking old vs new.
Tomorrow I may ask black vs red. What's wrong with that? I'm sorry, I did not want to waste anybody's time.
I am happy on any bike - give me a 50cc rusted scooter and I will ride it to hell.
I would get a new 883 Iron and be the happiest man on earth but I simply can't.
These days I have more time to wrench than to ride and I am wondering what would bring me more joy (without getting me frustrated that is).

You need to figure out what kind of riding you plan on doing. Long distance, local, some over nights ect... I have a 07 king and love the damn thing.

Go to a dealership and see which one looks good, that fits you the best and buy it. Another way is if a dealership has a demo day and test ride every bike that you like and choose it that way. After all, it's your choice and I can't and won't tell you which one to get because everybody has their own preference on which one feels and looks the best to them and that they can afford. Good luck.

Get the shovel. And do not worry about wasting our time.
We have time or we would not be here.
