When did something like an ultra, start being called a bagger? Late 80's /90's I remember them being called a dresser.
When did the bagger term come into play?
The reason I ask is a neighbor pulled up and was speaking to his friends about the new bagger he just bought. Went on about the 24 inch front wheel... Bla Bla Bla. And the 26 inch front wheel Bla Bla Bla.... Stretched bags and the 30 inch front wheel Bla Bla Bla....
I had to walk in as the conversation was talking loud, projected towards me as I should be impressed.this dude will drop this bike soon!
Good question when did people stop referring to then as full dressers, or Harley 74s?
I think that is why i love my Road King so much, it makes me think of what I had pictured in my mind of a Harley 74 back when I was a child.
Back in the 50-60-70...they were all dressers. But now, there's so many different styles and models and somewhere along the line, they became baggers...something I have a difficult time calling them.
I always knew it as a bike with bags (from the factory, not throwovers) was a bagger. a fully decked out bike with bags, and tourpack was 'fully dressed' aka 'dresser'....
that's always worked for me. whether it is fully correct? who knows....
It's got 3 front wheels!? What the hell kind of bagger is this?
The guy kept changing tire size as he was trying to explain his expensive purchase. He was clueless about anything to do with the bike, but the front tire/rim. Didn't know the motor size, 2012 with the rim. That was funny.

My memory seems to be that Dresser or Fully Dressed went out with the Shovelheads, and Bagger came around with the Evo's But that's just as I "recall".
