I see the benefit of CBs on large group rides. Back when I did rides with the HOG chapter, at least the road captain and the tailgunner had them, which facilitated the group staying together. But those groups were 15-20. (If more than that showed for a ride, they split into two groups.)

About 5 years ago, 3 other guys and I formed our own small group for local rides and weeklong tours. One of the other guys suggested that we get radios to communicate while we ride but I vetoed the idea. I'd rather enjoy the road and the ride and talk about it in the evenings over a beer than yack all day long. We find that hand signals and other non-verbal cues work fine in our small group.

Why do you have to "Yack all day"??? You can't control yourself to just transmit important info? Like - - Hey! there's a blond with no top on right side? There are a lot of things that a CB can be useful for. You don't have to talk every second - that would bug me too.

I don't. But one of my buddies likes to talk. An evening's worth is fine but....

And I have very long arms, so when I point at the blond with no top, my buddies don't miss the hand signal!
