Default Do you have a list of Accessories?

I got a call from my insurance agent.

They want pictures of all sides of all of my bikes, copies of all registrations, and copies of receipts of all the accessories on the bikes.

The one problem I have is my Goldwing. I have so much chrome on that bike close to $5,000 in accessories on it, plus the trailer I tow behind it, how am I going to find all these receipts. I currently carry $10,000 in accessory coverage in case there is an accident with the bike and trailer.

They want it in case there is an accident so it will speed up the claims process and they will know what accessories will need to be replaced.

I think I am going to have to make a list on an excel spreadsheet and find part#s and prices.

Do you have that for your bikes if you get in an accident?
It might be wise to have the list and pictures with the insurance agent in case of an accident so it would help fight you case.

I know I don't. I've got pictures and MAYBE receipts but I honestly don't know if my insurance company will replace my mods. I know that if something happened to the bike and they wouldn't, I wouldn't put them back on...only the sissy bar for my wife.

Which brings up another question. Does an insurance claim pay for the accessories or mods at full retail or is there a lower percentage for depreciation and use?
There are many threads about how mods and doo-dads add little value to a bike at time of sale.

I keep receipts and a list of when I put them on and how many miles I had at the time. Sounds a little ADD but a previous owner of a bike I had did that and it helped me out a lot. Plus it's just kinda cool to see it after a while.

depends on your insurance company. progressive will pay you to replace them, so full pop.

here's a copy of an excel spreadsheet that someone gave me years ago. I've started filling mine out, but have yet to add my pics to it. one of these days

one thing to note, in order to upload, I had to change the file extension. after you download it, change it to .xlsx

I've kept all receipts for accessories - but I've never totaled them up because if I did I'd have a cardiac event.

When they sweep it up in a pile from the road ditch someones yard they will make a list for you. When the pile is dropped off and claims agent goes over it. Them folks are pretty sharp.
Another good reason to have it taken to a dealership.

I have the receipts in a folder mixed in with receipts for all the major service work. If I ever added it all up, I'd have a coronary.

Long before I had a computer, I had a list of modifications and accessories and prices in my service log. I stopped some years back, and some of the prices are over 20 years old.

Can you not take it to a dealership, list out all the accessories and what you paid, then have the dealer verify that for the insurance company?

That's how it works with HD Insurance approved value. My dealer signed and stamped the form for everything on the bike whether or not it was bought from them. And HD Insurance confined it's all covered at full purchase value.

Might not help you with the Goldwing - but there's no harm in trying.

The shovel I'd be completely screwed on, there's nothing remotely stock on it. I'd have zero chance of arguing that one out.

The Road Kings bone stock aside from a set of FuelMoto slip-on's, the air cleaner and tuner were on it at delivery.
