I have two homes 2300 miles apart, we live 6 months in one, six in the other (and have a 'guest' bike for each that stay when we move) I just bought my second J&S for the summer home. It will have a 09 Heritage sitting on it all winter. You will be very pleased with the J&S jack. If you do your own oil changes, get the drain pan, well worth it.

The Craftsman yellow jack gets as low as any jack available to include the JS jack.
My yellow jack is close to the frame but it slides under my Heritage while it's on the jiffy stand.
Yep - got the red one.

Guess that red paint is thicker than the yellow then.

I've never read any complaints about the J&S. I just set my bike up there and forget about it.

I once owned a Harbor Freight jack, that crappy yellow one. Its not built well. And the bike was shaking. I returned the jack after about an hour. Harbor Freights took it back, no questions asked. When it comes to my bike, I'm not risking losing it on a cheaply made tool, just to save a few $$$. I love my J&S.

Then you aren't trying hard enough.

The most common complaint is that they cost more than $69.99
Significantly more.

Second- Despite being made in the USA, the bottle is made in China.
Which apparently makes the structure of the jack weaker?
Or totally negates the fact that it is indeed made in the USA?
Though if you get a bad bottle, J&S will quite often give you a replacement for no cost. Bastards....

Third- They come an any color you like, as long as it's black. No yellow, no red. No aluminum, no pot metal. Although I do recall one person accuse the company of importing cheap, low grade steel and using it in the product.
How that person could possibly know something like that is beyond me.

Most of the complaints come from those who don't own one. I don't recall anyone who's actually purchased one complaining about it.

But there must be a few who have.

While ago I picked up a nice alternative, a bike dolly by Redline. Already have had a couple jacks so this works especially well and the price at about $100 is very good. The bike can easily be moved in any direction and the thing is rock solid. Here is a link to it.

I bought a used J&S jack and it was the only one that slip under my deluxe while on the jiffy stand!

That being said, the JS jack is sturdy enough as it is so you probably wouldn't use a dolly with it anyway..

You must have the Craftsman red jack or a really low bike.
The Craftsman yellow jack gets as low as any jack available to include the JS jack.

The J&S website doesn't say how low their jack will go, but other's have stated it will drop as low as 4".

The Craftsman yellow jack has a lowest spec of 3 7/8".
So if the J&S jack will fit under your Deluxe then the Craftsman yellow jack will as well.

Funny as everyone that has the cheap Craftsman lift does nothing but brag on it, best bang for the buck. Kinda like the small ***** thing maybe? JK...

The bike dolly I have is Redline and so is the jack. I dare say it (lift) rivals the J&S barring the price. I have used the J&S and honestly for the couple hundred price difference I don't see it. My Redline goes down to sub 4" by way of tape measure but it is behind a couch in the man cave and can't get exact measurement.
