Default Chrome Issue - need suggestions

Hi, make a short story longer, I ordered a set of Chrome Lower legs off a guy who from reviews I read was known for doing good chrome.

Well they showed up today and low and behold, one of the legs has a chip at the top of the leg. As well there were some minor little pits and marks, which were chromed over.

I contacted the seller and he said it must have been dropped during shipping. I told him that due to the way it was packed (bubble wrap and soft white material covering them...they were packed really well!) there was no way it could have happened during shipping. I personally think they dropped it during packing and sent it anyway.

He said to put clear nail polish over top if i was concerned. He also stated it would not peel as it was a ding, not something that would cause peeling.

After a bit of back and forth, he offered a refund of $40. I ask for $75. I paid over $300. He said $40 was it.

I don't think I am being unreasonable here. My bike is by no means a show bike, but I do like it to look its best, especially when I am buying something brand new, like new chrome.

Am I asking too much?, or should I just go through paypal ( which is where I paid though) and ask for my money back.?

open to suggestions....

Here is a few pictures of the chrome....

yeah when buy chrome items you expect quality. If you received a new exhaust or mirrors with nicks and dings you would be pissed and demand a refund. So why is this *** any different.

If you were shopping for the cheapest parts oot there, and bought the cheapest parts, now you know why. Someone who's aiming toward the upper end of the market would not want sub-standard parts out there.

So, I ask you OP...were ya shopping for price or quality?

I agree with the others, send them back for a full refund and spend a little more to get better quality. I imagine that chrome will peel away fast.

Excellent pictures!
I've ordered new fork legs from HD before. (Gloss black powder coated.) The packaging showed zero damage, but both fork legs showed small nicks on the OD's. Ended up returning them. Got another set of new legs. They weren't much better! Installed those on the bike, and was done with it.

I don't get it. For the difference of $35 you'd be satisfied. How does a $70 refund make the issue better??
