For the Army to move us. Heading to VA.. DC area. Anyone around there? How’s the riding like? We just came from Hawaii to Korea. Hawaii of course was good riding weather. Here in Korea.. we’ve had monsoons and freezing winters.. oh and HUMID summers. Only real good time was spring and fall.
Ive only lives in western VA for a year but don’t really remember the weather much. Not sure if the east is any different. Thanks in advance!
There are great roads in the Virginia and Maryland suburbs. Northern VA and DC are a nightmare when it comes to traffic. I'm about 45 minutes north in Baltimore Maryland. There are great roads all around. Winters can be brutally cold and we can definitely get heavy snow storms. Summers tend to be humid as well but nothing terrible
I lived there for three years in the early 90s and hated the traffic. Of course, I worked in the Pentagon and lived in Alexandria to avoid the commute...and the traffic was still brutal. Can’t imagine it’s gotten better since then.
But just outside if town there are some beautiful rides and great destinations, especially if you’re a history buff. My brother-in-law is stationed at Quantico and he’s out doing stuff all the time. Western Maryland has some nice drives, too. If I can remember any specifics I’ll post them.
I am sorry brother you have to go there. I suspect you are much younger than I am so may be able to tolerate the traffic better. Lived/worked around there for too long. On the plus side get back to the western part of the state or region for that matter and the riding is fantastic. A big thank you for your service!!!
I live just south of DC. I 95 was just voted the worst traffic in the US. For riding stay away from the I 95 corridor and go west into the mountains or east towards the bay and you will enjoy yourself. The weather is humid in the summer and iffy in the winder we are right on the snow belt were we can get rain or 2ft of snow.

rk classic.
When I lived there, the Springfield interchange at 95/395/495 was called the Springfield Brake Check area. It was the most forked up, convoluted mess of Highway I’d ever seen anywhere in the world. Is it still a mess or did they ever reengineer it?
