Wow this thing again.....

I guess 07's are close loop systems now? Is this true? Older EFI Harley's are not. They run off of a map which means they don't compinsate for altitude. The Stock CV Carb does adjust for altitude. If you want a new motorcycle that is carbed then you can buy a Triumph American or Speedmaster. I ride with a group that has bikes as old as 70's shovels and as new as a 07 Road glide. One guy changed his 97 from EFI to carb because of the poor performance and brake downs. We put between 15 & 20,000 miles a year on our bikes. (and most of use have more then one). It's not if something goes wrong, its when something goes wrong. Carbed bikes don't have as much to go wrong.

I have seen two bikes both equal (except the carb bike was 11 years older with more miles) The Carbed bike would beat the EFI bike until the EFI bike changed to carb. Now they are neck to neck from a light.

EFI- All I have to do is plug my laptop in and BOOM, dialed in perfecto.

Complexity is about the same guys and gals. It is just what you are more comfortuable with. I don't like having to rejett a carb in a Rest stop bathroom. I would rather plug my laptop in (I wonder if I can get a PDA to do the tuning?) punch in the numbers and be back on the road.

Sensors versus Diaphrphams and float levels
Wires versus jetts and linkage

Not much difference in complexity if you understand both systems.
I'd rather carry a screwdriver than a laptop.

I just carry the vodka and orange juice in seperate containers, then mix them in another cup later.

I have an EFI.
I work night and leave late. I love the fact that I can start my bike up and quietly leave right away without having to let it warm up. It runs just about the same the first minute that it does after it is fully warmed up. No hassle, just start it up and ride.

I like carbs because they're simple compared to EFI. Besides, I like *****.

I have no issues with starting my 2003 EG Standard with a carb and leaving quietly either.

67,000 miles on my carb'd evo, very reliable and rarely touch the choke ****....however my previous metric machine, also carb'd, had an annoying sticky float valve. All things considered, I still prefer carbs over EFI.

I understand people who are not comfortuable with computer to like carbs. That is cool. You probably still buy stamps and write checks too. It's all good. I on the other hand have not written a check in 3 years and last time I bought a book of stamps, Clinton was president.

I can work on a carb as well as the EFI. The 06 and older Open Loop EFI is mediocre in my opinion. However the new Closed Loop system should really bring things around. EFI is here to stay.

As the Borg would say "Resistance is futile."
