I just ordered a custom made Langlitz Cascade last week. Surprised nobody has mentioned Langlitz yet. They are very expensive, but you get what you pay for.
I hope that will be the last leather jacket I NEED to buy.
Vanson- Cut and construction is designed for riding. No flopping in the wind, doesn't ride up when I'm on the bike etc. Not for standing around, it's made expressly for riding.
Leather is very thick, but this is what makes it so great for riding. It breaks in where it need to, but retains that overall stiffness. On my bikes without any fairings, it absolutely doesn't flap/slap around in the wind. Fantastic to ride fast in.
Build quality is not fantastic though, and I had to send it back for loose stitching in some areas. They fixed it, but I was disappointed that it left the factory this way.
Fox Creek- Extremely comfortable, and broke in very quickly. It's a looks and function jacket that can be worn off of the bike comfortably. Get banging around 90+ and it "flaps" around, but that is to be expected because of the compromise for casual wear. Basically, if I plan on hauling ***, then the Vanson gets the nod.
The Fox Creek has the Vanson beat on quality of construction, no question.
Both a good, but my Vanson gets used more simply because it is so purpose built for riding.
I have a couple jackets from Leatherup.com that have held up well for 6+ years so far and both are armored. I'm sure fox creek is great, but the prices are multiples of what you will pay on Leatherup. Plus, the prices they list are list are always discounted 10%. Just google leatherup discount codes and you'll find it.
Z Leathers California. I own about 6 jackets over many decades from my friend Adolf. He is the one that made the jackets for Mickey Rourke in "Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man".
Another Fox Creek vote! Ordered beltless chaps just today. Check for Black Friday discounts starting tomorrow. I’ve used their warranty and the turn around was awesome with no hassle. Great outfit
