Vanson- Cut and construction is designed for riding. No flopping in the wind, doesn't ride up when I'm on the bike etc. Not for standing around, it's made expressly for riding.

Leather is very thick, but this is what makes it so great for riding. It breaks in where it need to, but retains that overall stiffness. On my bikes without any fairings, it absolutely doesn't flap/slap around in the wind. Fantastic to ride fast in.

Build quality is not fantastic though, and I had to send it back for loose stitching in some areas. They fixed it, but I was disappointed that it left the factory this way.
That's not been my experience with them. Their stuff that I've encountered has been very well made. I've never seen/read anything that suggest Vanson is anything but high quality gear (Vanson has a pretty stellar rep - google their reviews/articles). In particular Vanson has a rep for ruggedness and providing protection.

I've had may Vanson for over 15 years. I don't expect to ever have to replace it. It wouldn't surprise me if it outlast me and is still a nice piece of gear after I'm dead and gone. Hopefully that won't be for some time (decades) to come.

I have fox creek leather. About same price as the Harley leather but made in the USA. And it is top quality leather! Feels like it is already broke in.

Schott pretty much invented the leather jacket. I've never worn better, and I do have a pair of Fox Creek chaps...

Schott Perfecto leather motorcycle jackets have been made sine 1928. The last one I had was still in good shape after 25 yrs of use, I just out grew it.

Got me a new Schott Perfecto about about 3 or 4 yrs ago, and expect it to last me the rest of my life.

I personally wouldn't have a leather jacket that feels "broke in" when I put it on brand new. It takes a bit of breaking in with a Schott, but when it breaks in it fits YOU! When I ride 95 mph down the Interstate, it doesn't feel loose, or flappy. It feels like part of my body.

I'm sure the other U.S.A. brands are fine, but nothing beats a Schott Perfecto in my mind....

If your in San Jose I suggest that you go to Just Leather on Stevens Creek Blvd near Bascom.

The place has been opened for many years and have quality jackets and leather goods.
I bought my jacket and chaps along with my wife custom fitted jacket there about 15 years ago and all is still in good shape.
They even have a Taylor

The main zipper wasn't stitched all the way tightly into the waist "band"- So after about 20 on/offs it started to lose one stitch at a time. I sent it back, and hopefully it's fixed.

I would purchase another Vanson without hesitation, as I am sure mine was probably a fluke. Still felt a little let down after sending an 800 dollar jacket back for repairs. Anyway, the Fox Creek has absolutely flawless stitching, but the Vanson is the performer when it comes to real use.
