Now you can print it out and show it to the dealer you are working with. Then ask them again why they charge set up fees if they get reimbursed anyways.
Looked at a used 2013 here in Florida area. Price was not unreasonable, but average for year and mileage. Final price was bike, tax, liscense, registration, DOCUMENT FEES, AND DEALER FEES. Document Fees were $250 for a m/c. (I asked if the bill of sale, tax receipt, tag transfer paper, and new registration were THE NEW DOCUMENTS?)
Then the big hit, I asked what the $695 DEALER FEE was covering? Answer ........
“It pays the light bill, the technicians, and keeps the doors open”
I asked what the markup from the trade-in value was used for, “To pay the loan on the Mercedes parked in front?????”
The biggest bargaining power you have is to walk away. Vote with your wallet. I don't begrudge a business trying to maximize profits. It really is the consumer's responsibility to be as educated as possible going in.
That said, I abhor sales tricks and underhanded practices. Being educated helps. It helps me walk away from a deal if I don't like it.
Or buy lightly used and let somebody else take the hit.
I do agree with previous posters: You can buy black & paint it the way you want. Make it unique to you.
