A Sportster trike? Interesting thought. The Pan American sounds more like a sport-tourer, or even an adventure bike.

I'm not a prospect for either style, but someone will be.

Since HD did not trademark those in the US perhaps there is some money to be made by doing so, just in case HD decides to bring that model to the US

they've already done that. there are two of them in the hd museum. i'm quite sure that they've already trademarked the name for those since they've been there a few years....

A Harley Davidson Pan America sounds like a Honda Pan European. Too bad neither is a Pan Head.

The last "Pan" was made in 1965. Don't care what word(s) you may put in front or behind it.
