Default Non repairable title from Texas

Has anyone ever dealt with a Texas non repairable title? I bought a flood bike, basically no damage. 2009 Ultra with only 9400 miles. Everything is great with it, except it was issued a non repairable title. Before everyone starts with the negative jabs I bought it right, so if I do have to part it out I will do just fine. I'm just curious if anyone has ever successfully converted a title of this designation to a salvage/rebuilt title. It makes me sick to think of parting out a bike this nice. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you contacted your Idaho BMV to see how they would handle this?

I almost bought a toyhauler like that...one call to my DMV told me I could not title it in my state.

I appreciate the reply’s. I had previously read through all of literature on the Texas website. My local DMV told me no problem to title it. But after I had submitted for title and they had given me registration they called and said they would be sending me a junk title instead, as well as revoking the registration. Some states have a provision where you can essentially resurrect a junk vehicle, California appears to be one. I’m mainly curious if anyone has had experience with this and what the process is.

That title is "branded" in the DMV/ insurance system...it will never be worth much...many insurance company's will not insure it...and anything you can do to "fix" it is borderline, or completely illegal ...I would cut my loses and start parting it out.

Never seen an aftermarket 09 up touring frame EXCEPT ones to put a 30"(or bigger) tire on front.

Looking at ebay 09 up touring frames with a clear title are asking from 3-5k...and it is only a 10k bike according to NADA..not worth the trouble.

Actually I was not thinking "touring" frame. But along those lines the engine/trans etc. should fit in earlier frame.

So it's got a non repairable title and you want to hide that so you can sell it to an unsuspecting buyer? That's what sounds like anyway.

Setting that aside, a flood bike will have untold damage anything from shell bearings to electronics later on down the road. I've seen it first hand both with bikes and cars.
