I bought my first Harley last week..since then I have dumped a grand in "upgrades" into it. I've put a new saddle, passenger pegs, solo bag, and just ordered the bits to swap the boards for forward controls.
I'm no stranger to motorcycles. I have been riding for 32 years and have had a multitude of bikes, but this is the first motorcycle that I have owned that I've actually wanted to spend money on!
Now, if you'll excuse me, there is a Drag Specialties catalog calling me!
It gotta perform.., it gotta fit yer ***..., it gotta reflect your soul
It does end when there's nothing else you can add or change.
Then you start thinking about a new bike and starting over lol.
I know I have done it twice. The way I have it figured, if you pay $25k for the bike then you can get real close to that dressing it.
Either you guys need some education on how to spend money or I need counseling. I keep a spreadsheet of my mods and the dollars spent are crazy. However, it is the way I like it and I'm keeping it forever (or until I buy a new one).

I like to spend my money, I don't like to dwell on it after the fact.
Only time I keep records like yours is at work. (Cuz it's WORK!)
It's the same disease/sickness for all Machines-Toys: Jeeps, Side x sides, ATV's, Etc. We always want to improve, personalize, Bling em up. I've dumped a couple grand into my 2017 RG, recent Elka shocks for my ATV. Wife is giving me the stink eye on spend and it's only Jan Eeeek...

Welcome to the HD family. It's the only manufacturer that requires upgrades to make the bike have any comparison to the the refined Japanese or European bikes. Let it be known HD gets rich not on bike sales but in the aftermarket. When you write a check for 20K plus for a bike you shouldn't have to spend a cent to make it right. If you borrow to pay for it then well their credit market will gladly finance your upgrade ambitions. I had to purchase a quality saddle on my 15 RGS because the stock sucked for my passenger. Other than that i have not had to spend a penny on anything although i upgraded all my signal lights with Custom Dynamics LEDs. My bike is basically stock and bad *** as is.
