Bought my first Ultra a few months ago. A 2010 with 7000 miles. A few weeks ago the bike was dead. Battery was 3 years old so I figured it was time for a new Deka. But to me something was still off. With the key on it still powered everything but would not crank. Someone mentioned the fob batteries die. Could it be that simple? Put a new battery in the fob and she fired up. WTH? Any more surprises in store for me? 🐖
have you changed your pin yet? if not, then there could be a very big surprise in store for you.
it's a simple process, clearly outlined in your owner's manual. i would recommend that you change it, and go through the pin override process a couple of times to make sure that you are proficient at it. dead on the side of the road is not the best time to be learning how to input that pin.
also, be aware that you can get hit with electrical interference which will keep your bike from recognizing your pin. don't waste your time trying to push your bike all around the parking lot trying to find an open spot. just use your pin. easier to push turn signals with your thumbs than a 900lb tourer.
if you're having trouble getting your pin entered, make sure that you don't have the fob right there with you. an intermittent signal will mess you up every time. and don't keep it in the same pocket as your cell phone.
