Door County trip ?
But your condescending attitude is why the term originated. If you want to debate Cheeseheads versus FIBS, start another thread though. I don't think it's fair to the OP, to have a pissing contest here.
Try to go in the fall during peak color change during week days. Not much traffic then.

I had a similar attitude towards the IL plates back in the 90's. My dad made his retirement fortune being an electrical contractor. I lost count how many "2nd homes" we wired that were IL money.
The thing that bugged me the most was how they drove. It was like they owned the place. I ALWAYS loved seeing a suburban with 6 snowmobiles on a trailer in the ditch... with IL plates.
- Al Johnson's Swedish restaurant in Sister Bay. See the live goats on the roof. Food's okay, too.
- Snug Harbor Inn, Sturgeon Bay. A very nice B&B, Staff is great, but the furnishings are straight out of the 70's
- Whitefish Dunes State Park/Cave Point County Park. East side of the peninsula, Incredible scenery.
- The Blue Ox Bar in Bailey's Harbor. Beer and burgers.
- Super 8 motel on Green Bay Rd in Sturgeon Bay. We stayed there overnight once after a Packer game at Lambeau. It was surprisingly nice, clean, cheap, and the indoor pool was terrific.
- The Ashbrooke hotel in Egg Harbor. Pricey, but a very nice place.
- Potawatomi State Park. On the other side of Sturgeon Bay. Incredible scenery, especially in fall when the leaves turn. It's got a six or seven story fire watch tower that's open to the public to climb.
If you're going up the Green Bay side from Sturgeon Bay, take County Rd B (Bay Shore Dr), instead of Hwy 42, if you'd like a scenic side trip. George Pinney County Park is on the way, and has a nice picnic park and a boat launch. Great for place for photos. Cty B rejoins 42 in Egg Harbor.
As others have mentioned, Door County is a major Illinois vacation destination. Its beautiful, but the whole area is loaded with artsy-fartsy tie-dye craft booths, antique shops, and wineries. Everything a 50 year old Chicago female divorcee would like, will be there. Everywhere you look, they'll be selling cherry preserves, cherry this cherry that. Get past the tourist crap and you'll have a great ride.

You're lucky IL sucks so much. A LOT of IL money ends up there. Hell, I own more property up there than I do here.
