Facts are correct it’s not custom. Sorry cvo guys but it is a misnomer. I bought a special and built my own custom. Some factory things some aftermarket. Do I have every cvo bell and whistle? Nope.but I have the ones I want and spent less.
if you want all the bells and whistles of a cvo, can’t build the same for less. Shame they don’t stay unique for long in many ways, like they used to. Used to be easy to pick out a cvo from a distance not so much anymore.
Personally think the moco could could sell a **** ton more if they opened up some options lists, packages, choices like oh I don’t know every car manufacturer on the planet ... but I digress.
Somebody's a little bitter...just like a anything in life if you don't like it don't buy it. It's nice to know that my bike was one of the last years built on the special line,I learn something new every day. As far as there being 500 exactly like it...not exactly because even though it's got alot already I've added a few things to set it apart from the rest, as im sure alot of other cvo owners have done.It never gets lost in the sea of black street glides, no offense to you street glide owners lol.
Sure its a Custom bike. You go in and make a deal for a CVO on the floor and sign the papers. And then you tell the salesman what you want changed on it before you take it home. And sign some more papers.

I wonder why Harley claims the CVO is custom (Custom Vehicle Operations) when this is the last thing a CVO is
....... they don't.
I've never heard any sales person claim that the CVO line is anything more than a premium optioned model with color schemes & a motor that are not available in the regular line.
..... you sound like that guy who'd bitch to Ford when he finds out his Platinum Edition F150 isn't really made of platinum.
I wonder why Harley claims the CVO is custom (Custom Vehicle Operations) when this is the last thing a CVO is
In my opinion a CVO is nothing more than another model, and here is why i have come to this conclusion, after a visit to my local dealership and a local bike show.
No first the major reason I was considering a CVO was for the resale valve / trade in value when I am ready for the future upgrade. Myself like most i am sure put more money into a stock bike than what a CVO is worth, so why not just start with that CVO and not have to worry about taking off all of the adders and sell them seperately to try and regain some of the original investment.
So to that end I asked the following questions when looking at a CVO Limited
1. Can I pick the theme of the bike? (eagles, flames, skulls, ect.)
2. Can I pick the color if I am not interested in the CVO colors?
3. Can I pick the tires? (Realy not interested in Dunlops)
The response to each question was a flat out no, and to top it off I was told to just buy a stock bike and change it to what I want.
Ok so fair enough but I wanted an answer to just one more question because I can not get my head around the entire point of a CVO which is CUSTOM
If I must buy a stock CVO then what is so custom about that???
Maybe Harley can tell me what the big deal is about putting all flame covers on the bike instead of what they are using, because after all every CVO is hand made and is custom right
I think this is back to lets get you to spend 40-50% more for the bike and you will still spend on customising the bike anyways, because we have all had a drink of the coolaid
Honestly Harley needs to wake up and get realistic and see the consumers are smarter and will do more research with the internet than ever before. This is just another reason why they are loosing market share.
I would be more than willing to spend the money for a CVO if I can get what I want, instead I will run my current bike a lot longer because I have spent the money to get it where I wanted it, but have no real value on trade for the upgrades. And I am not all that encouraged to do that a second time
This is not a Harley bash by any means, but I am hoping this may be a bit of a kick in the *** Harley needs to see what it's customers are looking for. And if you are going to claim something is custom then lets do just that
It really surprises me that anyone really thinks CVO bikes were intended to be one off custom bikes. CVO bikes have always been limited edition low volume models with all the bells and whistles not available stock on the rest of the lineup. It is no different than what Automakers have done for years when putting out special limited edition models
