Default 103 into 2003 Dyna

Can anyone tell me if a 103 is compatible with a 5 speed in a 2003 Dyna. Looking for the most economical way to get some big inches. Example, if I have my cases bored, what is the capacity I can expect to get out of my 88inch. Looking at all options, used 103, build up a 96 or build up my 88. Injection, carby etc.
Cheers
Mick

No, the 96/103 A engine won't "drop in".

1. have cylinders bored to 97"/98" with new pistons

2. S&S 100" power package or just the 100" cylinders/pistons
make these folks an insane lowball offer like 1200-1800 for the full kit or like 600 for the just the cylinders/pistons

full kit

cylinders/pistons only

Probably be better off wiyth a 95 kit. Those kits are pretty much tried and true, and will give you 100/100 at the rear wheel. How much more do you need?

The secret to them is the cams and headwork. Check the dyna forum and ask around.

Case boring is not all that will be required if you want to go big. Depending on the desired size, a different crank will be a possibility, changing stroke as well. There is a number of people who make 120" motors with stock crank throws, keeping piston speeds the same as stock. I would recommend doing crank work on something that big, though balancing/welding is a good idea, for longer life and smooth operation. Older cranks , such as yours are pretty reliable and not too prone to twist. A 95", or 97" or 98" motor is relatively easily done, and shouldn't require splitting the cases. It really is going to boil down to how much you want to spend, and how fast you want to go.

95" motors with some good headwork and a good choice of cams will make a bike like yours pretty fast, and only require boring your cylinders and getting the heads done. Just out of curiosity how many miles on your motor?

The kit shown above for a 100" motor is a pretty good deal, Still need some head work but Thats a good way to go

Most economical boost? 95” pistons and cylinders, some headwork (88’s really need it), cams and a good tune. Stock CV carb only requires re-jetting. Either use S&S E-Z start cams or get comp releases installed with the headwork. Everything else is pretty much upsell after that. Totally different equation if you wanna open the crankcases; totally different price tag too.

Oh yeah; welcome to the forum...
