I believe those comments equate to 2 violations of unspoken Harley owner bylaws. I would know this because I roll just like yo.....wait...I refuse to self-incriminate.

Vests are ok, I used to wear one over my leather coat. But I'm not so sure they would offer much protection if you went down. Maybe the very heavy ones would but most I see are thin leather or denim which would shred to pieces in a slide.

I wear a jeans jacket about 90% of the time and my leather jacket the rest of the time like I did in the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's. Somewhere in that time the leather vest with all the patches look came out, it was about the same time as all the yuppie wanna be bikers came out.

I wear my leather vest every time I ride. Over a flannel in winter. Over a t shirt when it’s warm enough. Over a sleeveless shirt when it’s hot. It has a little extra storage via the pockets and I also consider it a little protection if I happen to go down.

Has anyone tried one of the cooling vests? Was looking at them on eBay, they're cheap, wonder do they work?

Don't know if this counts, but I have an air-bag vest made by Hit-Air. I wear that all the time when I ride.

I keep our cooling vests folded up inside gallon freezer bags. When we feel the need we pour a water bottle into the bags, wait a couple min for the vest to soak up the water and OH YEAH BABY they work. Life Saver!

I've got a cheapo "Hot Leathers" vest I picked up in Daytona a long time ago for about $25. Used to wear it because I liked having the inside pockets to carry stuff, but anymore it stays in the closet since I pretty much just use it to hold rally pins. By the time I get to most events here in Florida it's too damn hot to wear the vest, and the rally pins covering the front look like something a Russian general would wear. It's heavy and not particularly comfortable.
