The one I had on the Ultra was easy to remove and adjustable.
So if you don't want to see it remove it.
The one on the Deluxe was a whole lot less expensive, not overly adjustable and tougher to remove.

instead of struggling to swing your leg over it, have you tried mounting from the right?

on my bike when i have the tour pack on, i come at it from the right, right hand on the right grip, left hand on the tour pack. right foot on the floorboard, then step up and through with the left leg and then just sit right down. makes it super easy to mount.

I almost always mount from the right. Right hand on the right grip, and up and over my backrest with my left leg. But then I have some fairly long legs.

On the subject of backrests, I have an adjustable one for my stock SG seat. I like it for when I'm backing my bike up because it gives me something to push against. Without it, with my long legs I tend to raise up and end up halfway into the passenger seat. I also like them for long rides.

My left knee has been repaired once and my right knee twice. Twisting on the right knee is brutal. Can't even swing a club anymore. I Mounted on the high side for many years, its painful to do even without the backrest.

I like my driver's backrest; it makes my rides more enjoyable. If someone doesn't like the way it looks, fudge'em!

How do you like the grasshopper? That's the only one I've thought of getting

I do like it. Besides, it was the only realistic option to use with my stock seat. I bought a Corbin solo saddle with a backrest a few years back. It looked b!tchin' and the backrest was awesome, but the seat and my *** just didn't get along. So I took my stock saddle and the grasshopper over to a local custom seat guy, and had the grasshopper recovered to match. Pops on with the two knurled seat bolts in 15 seconds. The support is springy, so although not good enough to just lean back on, it provides very good support, making those long miles way more comfortable. Inexpensive and effective.

To each his own right? Why bother commenting, love my adjustable backrest on long rides & my windshield too.

Because the OP asked “what do you think”. Not “please agree with me”, jeesh.

For what it’s worth I don’t ride with one either or a windshield. Ride what you want, but y’all complain about people judging you for using that gear then jump on someone who doesn’t when asked.

When I ordered my Mustang, I ordered the backrest thinking I would rarely use it. It never comes off of the bike. I have back issues, and the backrest makes longer rides much less painful.

Edit: The Mustang folds forward, making getting on the bike easy.
