Why do people care what other people think of their bikes or what they want to do to their bikes??
I have always done things to my bike for myself. I never asked what anyone thought before I did anything.
I have friends that constantly ask what I and everyone else thinks about ideas and parts they have in mind for their bikes.
A lot of the things they point out aren't in my taste and I am always trying to find a polite way to get out of the conversation..I usually say "cool"
I just don't get it......
Sorry rant over
never understood this. Folks post their projects and ask, "what do you think" or for opinions.
You see a lot of this sort of stuff on facebook in bike bike groups. Insecure folks just looking for postive reinforcement. Some guy on facebook asked the dyna group for opinions on some cheapo shocks he was looking at. I said they were cheapo crap shocks and suggested others in the same range... he got mad. Why ask if you only want to hear positives? If it is crap; it's crap. If you want the crap, buy it and be happy. Who cares what people think.
Used to be that folks who rode Harleys were generally men or women of action who couldn't give a red rip what others thought. And they wouldn't ask opinions of complete strangers.
My. How things have changed. And not necessarily for the better.
As always, with the larger forums the more self righteous snobs have to demonstrate their arrogance. If the query offends you, don't answer it. If you can't give sound advice move onto the next thread. If you have no clue, leave it to someone who does have a clue. Nobody wants to hear your chit anyway! Grow a pair!

Not certain who or what you're referring to, but when you put something out on the World Wide Web, you open up the subject to general discussion and conversation, like it or not!!! You have your opinion on this...others might say, 'Naw, I'm gonna comment on it anyway'...and so they do!
Like me! I agree with OP. And I expanded upon his thoughts. I think that's a valid premise, and others did too.

I guess it's kind of like starting a thread... "Why do people care???" :-) Seems you are simply looking to get opinions on a topic. Sounds like what people are doing when they ask about something for their bike. Trying to get opinions on a topic. I don't see those two scenarios as being any different. Simply the topic is different. Just my 2 cents.

lol.. ya that was my point. You don't get why people care about what others think of their bike, but you care why other people do??? Hmmmm... I got a chuckle out of it anyway... Needed one for the day.
It depends what their asking about , some stuff you gotta wonder about especially the FB groups. Questions about function , quality , performance are good questions to sort out a purchase your considering. Questions like what color should I go with ,how big of a wheel should I go up front, what mirrors look best , does this fender make my *** look fat are things you should decide on your own.
