Do not worry about any warranty hassles.
As long as the "required" service is performed and the materials used (Oil, Filter, etc) meet HD specs you will be ok.
And HD specs does not mean HD part.

You can use any oil or part manufacturer you want as long as it meets specs.
And you can do the service yourself, or have anyone of your choice do the work.

Your Indy sounds like the perfect choice for you!

So, get the service done and enjoy some riding time.

Good price.
I just paid $160 for synthetic, all 3 holes and a quick check.

Just a recommendation..... I have both factory service manual and the parts manual. I know, you said you won't be doing the work, but still damned good reference materials!
I also have a 3 ring binder that I record all maintenance, service, repairs, anything and everything I do to the bike. I have plastic sleeves I place receipts, instruction sheets, etc in. It's a fat notebook, but it shows everything I've done. There's your traceability for any potential warranty claims.
And last thing, I use an app called Fuel Buddy and record all my fuel usage. I know how large my tank is, how much it holds, and my odometer qas my fuel gage. Don't rightly trust the fuel gage. I know my mileage, I can see the difference between around town and trips. Another useless bit of information that I feel is important!
Good luck to you!!
And welcome from Spartan Country Michigan!!

Just changed my oil for the 5K service cost me about 40. I just checked the tranny fluid as the service manual does not call for a change.

I do follow H-D's intervals. It is a waste of oil and money to change more often. There is no extra benefit at all. Just my opinion.
Same here.

I was on a car forum with some guy telling the world he buys the best oil but changes it every 3000 miles. Total waste of money.

I am curious about going full synthetic but would like to find out how well it does at 5k. It would have to be sent to a lab for testing. Long life oil in the car is good for much longer although may not get the same work out.

Oil thread brewing.

change your oil as often as you feel like it as long as you are ahead of the recommended hd intervals. Use whatever you want.

5k service is more than just oils/fluids.

I'd say synthetic "does" as well as non synthetic at 5000 miles, for the bikes with that change interval. If you go 5K on non syn and don't have the oil analyed, can't see why you'd worry about sym going the same distance

I know it will go 5K but will it actually go longer.

When the auto industry and I think Audi was first started using long life synthetic oils the interval went up to around 16 to 18K. So why not when used in a motorcycle?

Final cost with INDY was less than $200. 1 hour labor at $80 plus about $80 in top quality fluids. Mechanic also check everything for tightness, air, clutch, brakes, etc. I am satisfied.
