Just read in Rider Magzine that BMW is looking at coming out with a 1850cc six---this would be their top of the line Touring Bike----Now in 40 years of riding I have owned 10 Harleys--hey, just hard to get `em out of your system, but I have had an 1800 Goldwing---one thing I sure miss is the power from a stock Wing---HD needs to do something without us having to spend more on the motor just to get more power---I must admit that my old `77 Superglide with a S&S Carb ran just as good as this 07 FLHTC, and it sure didn`t make the noise this thing makes So come on HD--go ahead and put out that water-cooled 2500cc Scooter with 120hp and a motor that will last 200,000 miles---some of us old scooter tramps will buy it---------
Problem is that only "some" will buy one. If HD has much more of the success they've had with the V-Rod, they'll be going belly-up.
It would be an interesting bike, but with slow times setting in on all bike mfg, it's probably not a good time to drop something so far out of their bread & butter into the market.
'Sides, it'd have to be butt-ugly to compete with Beemers & Wings. And plastic is made from oil, and that oil could be put to better use than hiding cheezy lookin' & poorly welded Honda parts!
