Default Front brake switch sticks

While doing my inspection before each ride, I noticed that the brake light stays on after I press the front brakes. It will release after about 5 seconds, but sometimes it does not. I have to manually push (away) the front brake lever to turn the light off. Troubleshooting it shows that the front switch is sticking. I've sprayed lubricant in the area that holds the lever to the brake reservoir and it did not help.

Because it appears that switch is integrated with the front brake fluid reservoir and piston assembly, would I need to purchase a new front brake unit or is there a rebuild kit? If I rebuild, would I then need to take it in to have the ABS system flushed? The bike is a 2014 Heritage and I've flushed the brake fluid every 2 years as part of my yearly maintenance.

Any advice?

Have you changed your bars? If so, the two halves of the control might not be tight enough together. If not, it could still be the same thing.
Loosen up the switch housing, and make sure it's tight against the level perch. It's a cheap thing to try before anything else.

^ That would be the first thing I’d check also (pushing the housings together).

There is a master cylinder rebuild kit also though. Opening up the lines like that, to be safe, I’d have the dealer flush and bleed because if the ABS.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did not change the bars, but I did replace the grips. It now makes sense that it probably happened then. I will try your suggestion since it is the cheapest of the solutions.

Thanks for your help

if you have play in the brake lever it's the switch. If you didn't have the MC housing tight you would know it. Switches are 58 at dealer unless you buy on line at one of the Dealers that discount.
