Default Front Brake Light Switch

Brake lights staying on, or coming on in a sporadic manner? I read quite a few of posts in regards to this and thought I'd share. First thought is it's the switch only to find that the switch works just fine. Pull it apart and look at the master cylinder's plunger shaft and see if it butts up to the brake lever. Chances are it's not fully extending, a lil lube on it and work the lever/plunger until it butts back up.
Don't forget the 3/32" spacer at the lever as to not damage the brake switch when reinstalling and pay attention to your torques on the housing screws for the brake light switch adjustment.
Last week I posted in regards to the ABS brake line junction block bolt needing a thin layer of silicone caliper grease so the junction block retains that small movement. I'm still to find that in the manual as part of maintenance.
Yep, into a full detail, maintenance schedule, on my Deluxe. Hope these lil tips help someone out.

Nice tip - had the same problem with my Blackline . Funny you mentioned the master cyl cover , now that I think problem only appeared after i had checked fluid - maybe I have to re check the cover bolts too .

I didn't mention anything about the master cylinder cover, it has nothing to do with the brake light adjustment. I did refer to the switch housing alignment and torque values. Behind the brake lever, master cylinder side, you'll find a shaft protruding from the master cylinder butting up against the brake lever. Sometime that shaft doesn't release and needs a lil machine oil on it and worked until fully extends and butts up to the brake lever. Hope that clarifies my input somewhat. Good luck.

Ahhhh - I was thinking you meant the cover bolts could cause distortion . All good . I did lube the shaft when my light stuck on , that seems to be working for now but will do a more involved servicing when I replace the pads and fluid soon .

The stealership flagged this issue during an ESP inspection for a Blackline I'm trying to buy. They said that it requires a master cylinder rebuild kit, which would cost ~$180 ($25 part/$150 labor)...
