Default So it appears that honesty is NOT the best policy.

I have had my '09 Ultra on Craigslist and other sites for several weeks now with absolutely zero response, and I mean zero. At 72 years old I have sold many, many cars, motorsickles, boats, etc and have at least gotten offers by the low ballers that offer half and always the guy that wants to me to finance it for him. But this time zip, nada, nothing. I included that I had replaced the outer fairing and the engine guard due to a slow speed, as we say in Texas, "I tumped over". No wreck, crash, running into anything, flip, flop or tumble, just ploop. So it appears I have shot my self in the foot. I have to assume I must be the only person who has ever fallen over on a motorcycle.

Could just be timing or a lull in interest for the bike and year. As far as the details supplied, not sure how much that would influence desire but it might influence final selling price. Most people have in their mind that people selling used vehicles take some liberties with facts and will under-report or understate any damage or issues. So low speed incident might translate in their mind to 'the guy had an accident and is trying to make it sound less severe than it really is..' Obviously you dont want to lie and good on you for being honest. I am not sure what info is required when posting on cragslist or what you have to share. But you might just change it to stating the bike has a new outer fairing and engine guard. If they ask then you can supply details. Just my two cents. If there is no damage otherwise, you dont need to really share the info about an incident unless asked or required by craigslist. Just my two cents. Good luck..

There are similar threads about no luck with private party sales. Market is flooded with good used bikes, you will have to lower your price to get some action.

Well if you're disapointed in not getting typical craigslist offers..... Ive got two broken mopeds and my grandma's button collection. Can we make a deal?

On the other hand I would not buy a bike where the seller says it went over. As Upflying says there are plenty of other bikes for sale I'd skip the tipped over bike even without knowing whether others had gone down.

I just sold my 15 Ultra Limited and was beginning to wonder if anyone could even see my ad. I lowered the price and patients paid off and got it sold but I was ready to just keep it. Like you I've sold a lot on CL and always got replies and offers but just crickets on this Harley for the longest time.

The big question is what is your asking price?
My 01 was laid over, he had pictures and it did not scare me off.
Like stated its a buyers market (for the most part) and allot of folks have had bikes for sale for a long time due to price.

I look at CL and ebay daily looking for killer deals.

I would say that 80-90% of Harleys for sale...don't sale at all

There are way more used bikes for sale ...than there are buyers...

And virtually all Harleys for sale are over priced for the market.

Did insurance pay for the repair? If not, there’s no record, no paper trail. Delete your ad. Wait a month. Make a new ad with new pics. Adjust the price. Don’t fess up about the repair until you have somebody hooked. JMHO. Good Luck !

ps. Like UKLauren said, I wouldn’t even look at a bike with repaired damage, knowing that up front. I might, but it would have to be a clean title and SUPER cheap.

My neighbor just sold his 2011 street glide on CL in 24 hours. He had it priced at $12k and it had less then 7k miles on it. After looking around a little he was probably the cheapest on CL for the year and mileage and add ons. The guy financed it through the local HD dealer, might be good to offer that as option.
