Default HD oil package

I was looking in the HD website and noticed that they have a package for oil changes which includes 5 qts of 20W 50 360 conventional, a black 5 micron filter and 1 Oring for the drain plug. Total price is $57.95. If you price out the same products individually you come out with a price of $50.39 for the same products.
I would think buying the oil change package would be cheaper. But in this case it seems not. Just a heads up for you all so you can save a couple bucks.

Yea but you get a nice cardboard box to carry it in instead of plastic bags. Think of it as saving the earth and helping humanity.

Sounds like Wal-Mart. Where you assume buying the larger size makes it cheaper. Tricky.

A very good example!

More times than not, you can buy 2 twelve packs of soda cheaper than 1 twenty-four pack.
That same analogy applies to lots of products.

Your paying for the convenience factor.

https://www.harley-davidson.com/shop...il-change-kits

OP probably didn't provide that link because it takes a bit of time and effort. It also takes a bit of time and effort for the MoCo to package their oil change products into a kit.
Guess who's going to pay for that additional time and effort.

For those who purchase their oil, filter, and Orings on the HD website, money is no object.

One standard 11105 o-ring at my dealer: $1.99. Amazon: 100 o-rings for $3.99.

Just bought chrome K&N oil filters from Walmart.com. And that's embarrassing to admit because I really, really hate Walmart. But, $7.88 each and free store pickup is too hard to resist.

I got a pack of 100 (lifetime supply for me) o-rings from McMasters-Carr for about $10 and split the order with a riding buddy. Oils I get on Amazon

I still buy oil filters, spark plugs, and primary gaskets, etc..... at the local HD dealer, I'm too lazy to shop those around. And the extra money I spend at the dealer is relatively small.
Heck, they gotta make money somewhere.

I agree 100%. On the other hand, I draw the line at getting bent over the couch.
