HJC half helmet all the way. Flip down visor, can hear my stereo better & mild tinting on the visor helps with glare too. Maybe $90 on amazon. Can still wear close fitting wrap around sun glasses.
You cant go by a recommendation until we know your head shape. Fit is the most important part in selecting a helmet, cause if it's uncomfortable you wont wear it. I never had a good fitting helmet until finally learning this. Unfortunately my more round than oval head is reportedly less common in the USA. So choices for me are more limited. I did a ton of research and found that Arai makes helmets for different head shapes. Expensive and I don't think they make a 1/2 helmet, but different makers have different helmet shapes to some extent from what I have read. Try a bunch on first before buying. If it hurts in the store don't buy the salesperson's response of saying they "break in" they really don't.
Another vote for Daytona Skull Cap. I am in MN and rode out to Dennis Kirk and tried on about 6 different half helmets that were recommended on this forum. The Daytona was by far my favorite.
check out Badass helmets. Supposed to be the lowest profile DOT approved helmet.
