Default Chain vs Belt Sportster

i have a 95 883 bored out to 1250 and added a Mkuni carb, my belt finally gave out do to the added power. My question to you all is do you recommend sticking with belt or switching to chain.

Everything about the belt is better: Cleaner, more efficient power delivery, more durable, more stable over time. Everything.

Plus, assuming your sprockets are still good, putting a new belt on a Sporty is a piece of cake (compared to a big twin, anyway).

Is your 1250 Sporty motor too much? I doubt it. You're probably somewhere around 85 to 90 HP. No reason a proper belt can't handle it.

Personally, if this was my bike, I'd put a new belt on first. Odds are it will last 20+ years. If you manage to break it, then you can start thinking chain. But my money is on the belt.

I’m assuming that was the original belt. If so, it was 23 years old and owed you little or nothing. If it were me I’d put on another belt and not look back.

My bagger is built and I've snapped two stock belts over the years. They say there are better ones in the aftermarket, but I don't know which ones.
Don't do wheelies.
