Default Rear tire near gone at 8900 miles

I, too, am very close to needing a rear tire on my '06 Low Rider.
I called an Indy first.
$75 if I bring the new tire, tube and rim stripplus the wheel and tire off my bike.
$100 if I bring the new t, t and rsplus the bike with wheel still on it.
They didn't carry Dunlops but had a Metzler for $247; tire only.
$360 to put the Metzler on the bike when I drive up.

I called Cajun HD.
$65 to mount, check spokes and balance new tire I bring.
$200 for a Metzler tire.
They didn't have any Dunlops in stock.

American Motorcycle Tire on internet has Dunlop K591 17" rear for $114.
Tube for about $22.
Rim strip for about $1.50

$114.00 tire
22.00 tube
1.50 rim strip
65.00 mount, check laced wheel and balance
--------
$202.50 total at Cajun HD for new Dunlop K591 on my bike

Pretty good.
I'm on it pretty quick.

Yuck,

That's what I figured looking at the tread on the front. Next change will be near double.

I guess I am lucky with a place that will mount and balance as well as taking the wheel off the bike for $20.

I read that a lot, but in my case, I seem to go the other way. Right now, my front tire is getting close to needing to be replaced, and I still have over 50% left on my rear... and when I changed to Metzelers last year, my original Dunlop front tire was GONE at around 10K miles, but my rear still had 50% left... weird?

Cheers!

I don't think the 2/1 ratio works when your mix manufactures.....

I replaced both Dunlops with new Metz ME880s last year. I don't like to mix brands.

Cheers!
