Default SE204 cams

Ok I upgraded my 06 Night Train with the upgraded cam plate and a set of SE204 cams. I have tried a 72,74,76 main jet and a 29 and a 31 inter jet. With the 74 main and 31 inter was getting popping out of the exhaust thinking it was to lean I went with the 76 main made it worse. So I went with the 72 main and it got better but still some popping. Should I keep going down on mains? With stock cams I was running 72 main and 29 inter.

Have you adjusted the timing?

Not an expert but those cams will have longer duration and different opening, closing and longer duration.

I did a 95" kit and SE 203 cams on my 02 FXD , was told at the time the 204's were for fuel injected due to the cam lobes lift and duration. The only mods I've done to the carb were richen up the idle mix and raise the needle up with 2 #4 brass washers to clear the carb farts, I did not change the main jet a #195 and left the low speed jet at a #45, A #46 did not work so well. This all done in 2008 and I haven't had any problems with the set up.

Sorry, I cannot help with jetting advice for a carburetor bike but I do have a set of 204 cams in my '12 103" Super Glide and I am VERY satisfied with them.
